Buying a New System

If you have decided that a new computer is what you need, then I can help you to decide what is best for you. To reduce costs you may decide just to renew the tower and use your current monitor. You may be buying a second system, possibly a laptop. I will show you how to network them so each will have internet access.

Windows Vista is the current Operating System from Microsoft. Whilst it has many benefits including enhanced security, it does not support some programs that used to run on Windows XP. For instance Quicken is not available for Vista, and Sage accounts and Sage Payroll require updating. There are many more. I can still provide PCs with XP with a free upgrade to Vista. It is possible to configure them to run XP and Vista as a dual system.

I buy most of our systems complete from Dell. All computers are built  to your specific requirements. You may choose from a wide range of processors,  memory, discs and a host of other components. I will explain what they all do, their associated costs and help you to select the best solution for your needs.

I will order the computer on your behalf, take delivery and set it up in your home at a time to suit you. This will include reinstalling any programs you used on your old computer (providing you have the discs!), setting up your Internet connection and making sure your e.mail is working. For this I make a fixed charge of £120.00. I will also  transfer the files off your old computer, Outlook Express, Windows Mail e-mail folders & contacts and Internet Explorer favourites.
